Air Force Junior ROTC, (AFJROTC) is a special 3 to 4 year program available to interested Kenwood Students. It is a program designed to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community. The curriculum includes Aerospace Science (AS), Leadership Education (LE) and Wellness. Aerospace Science studies contains the history of aviation, cultural studies of major world regions, science of flight, and space exploration to include astronomy, plus survival and management. Leadership Education offers students many opportunities to shape their character. They are introduced to the Air Force organizational structure, uniform wear, military customs and courtesies, flag etiquette, citizenship in the United States, first aid, health and wellness, fitness, individual self-control, and basic drill and ceremonies. If students successfully completes 3 years of AFJROTC their elective credits will be converted to one science credit. If a student completes less than 3 years of AFJROTC they will receive one elective credit for each year of successful completion. The Air Force Junior ROTC Program was awarded continuing accreditation so students can earn up to 16 college credits at different colleges and universities throughout the United States their years of successful completion of the program.
