The Air Force Junior ROTC is a four-year, citizenship, leadership program which may be taken for either one, two, three, or four years by eligible students. The curriculum includes three courses in Aerospace Science; Aviation History, The Science of Flight, and Exploration of Space; four courses in Leadership Education and one hands-on course (Cadet Corps Management) for seniors. In addition to numerous other tangible and intangible benefits, (i.e., advanced promotion up to the grade of E-3 for those who enlist into the military, college scholarships, and being highly sought after by potential employers) a science credit is awarded upon completion of the entire curriculum. However, JROTC is not all work and no play. Cadets participate in area and regional parades, drill competitions, and go on fun-filled trips to local and out-of-state military bases. To be admitted, students must have a 2.5 or "C" grade point average(GPA), be physically fit and a U.S. citizen.
