National Art Honor Society

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) program recognizes those students who have shown outstanding ability in art. The NAHS program provides an opportunity for students to further their artistic talents, foster excellence, and gain leadership roles. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art to the attention of the school and community.

NAHS members are involved in a variety of activities and events, including
Induction ceremony for new members
Art production and creation of school murals
School art shows and art department field trips
Community service projects
Art-related fundraisers

Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to be members of the NAHS with the following qualifications:

Minimum of one semester of art (successful completion of Fundamentals of Art course)
Enrollment in an upper-level art course (i.e., Intermediate, Studio, Photography, Design in Clay)
B average in art classes
Recommendation from an Art Department faculty member

To remain a member in good standing, a member must participate in projects, activities, and fundraisers. Attendance is required at meetings to maintain membership and privileges. Members may remain active during such time when there are no visual arts courses on their class schedules as long as they fulfill all of the other requirements each year.
