Department of English and Reading

The Kenwood English Department offers courses that focus on the pleasures and challenges of reading, literary interpretation, and writing. Courses in English will prepare students for argumentative, informative, and narrative writing. Through the English courses, KHS students will become proficient in literary criticism and prepare for real-world writing.
All student learning needs are addressed through the support of co-teaching teams specializing in addressing the needs of students with IEPS. The teachers in the KHS English Department strive to push every student to read and write at college-level. AP Courses in Composition and Literature further challenge students to be college-ready readers and writers.
